We are almost a month into summer; however, we still have over a month left. With the Fourth of July now over, the question is, what is there to do for the rest of the summer? Well, welcome to the Summer Fun in Ohio, your ultimate guide to exploring the best activities the Buckeye State has to offer during our sunny months! Whether you’re a solo traveler seeking adventure, a couple in search of a romantic getaway, or a family looking to create memories with your loved ones, Ohio has a wide range of activities to choose from.
From lively festivals that celebrate local culture to thrilling amusement parks, amazing zoos, scenic parks, and nostalgic drive-in movies, there is something here for everyone. There are many hidden gems and popular destinations that make summers in Ohio unforgettable. Are you ready to dive into a season filled with excitement, relaxation, and endless opportunities for fun?
Our list includes different celebrations, events, concerts, festivals, family days, and so much more so there’s something for everyone! We will start off with a few places that you can go with your family and all ages can have fun.
Cedar Point – Sandusky, Ohio
- Dairy Tickets are $50, with other options such as Family Bundles for $80, and a $25 a month summer pass that is valid until Labor Day!
Kalahari – Sandusky, Ohio
- Stay the night and enjoy the waterpark, arcade games, and shops for two days. Rooms range from $150-$800 for most rooms that can accommodate up to eight guests in some rooms.
- They offer seasonal passes for $200-$350 depending on a few features, or days that you can visit.
- There are also day passes for all day for $65, military pass for $50, and a few other options like water park entry at 4pm for a discounted rate!
Put-in-Bay Ohio
- This little Ohio getaway has more than 1.5 million people annually visiting, with a wide variety of places to eat, shop, drink, and do activities.
- The nightlife in Put-in-Bay is very exciting with dozens of restaurants and pubs that please every taste and budget.
- There is a dog park, wildflower trail, marina, state park, and so much more for you, or you and your family to enjoy!
Kings Island
- Offers Dailey tickets for $45, and kids passes for $30.
- Waterpark, amusement rides, cabanas, shopping & more!
Geneva-on-the-lake
- In Geneva, you were able to enjoy a variety of activities, places to eat, fun for kids, or nightlife for those over the age of 21. There are many different cottages, hotels, and Airbnb across the city that you can stay at. The strip includes various arcades, golf cart rentals, mini golf, and different bars and restaurants. Don’t forget to stop at Madsen Donuts for the freshest donuts around! Get there early before they sell out of their many delicious flavors of homemade donuts.
There are so many other things that you can do throughout Ohio, whether you’re going solo, with a friend, or you’re with your family. There are a few different parks in northeastern Ohio that you can go to and walk trails, sightsee, picnic, and other activities depending on the park. Mill Creek Park is popular for its gardens, and walking trails, you can also visit the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, or the Nelson-Ledges State Park for other trails and events. If you’re located in the center of Ohio, you can visit the Columbus Zoo & Aquarium, or if you’re near Cleveland, you can visit the Cleveland Metropark zoo for low dailey ticket fees! You can also visit various different drive-in movie theaters, which makes the movie experience comfortable and fun! You can visit the Elm Road drive-in, Midway drive-in, Starlite drive-in, and so many more throughout Ohio! Fun fact; Drive-in movie theatres are not common in every state, and there are only 300 left in the U.S., 24 of those are in Ohio!
We saved the best for last! If you love fried oreos, funnel cakes, bloomin onions, corn dogs, pasta, gyros, and the hundreds of other fair foods, this is the section for you! These fairs and festivals can also include rides, games, music, and so much more!
The Ohio fair season starts in June and goes into early October. These are a must go this summer for music, fun, and of course the food!!
